Shelomo Selinger's studio in Paris
Israeli-Franco sculptor Shelomo Selinger survived the National Socialist terror as the sole survivor of his family. After the war, he suffered from amnesia which he endured for a period of seven years. He emigrated to Palestine, where he met his wife-to-be Ruth Shapirovsky and started sculpturing. They went to Paris in 1955 and Selinger began his art studies at École des Beaux Artes. Until today, Selinger created
more than 800 sculptures that are made of granite, sandstone, bronze, and various timbers. Only a few of his works thematize the Holocaust. Nevertheless, those particular objects belong to his most visible ones.
FlossenbürgMemorial shows selected works from February 13 to August 16, 2020. The exhibition was realized in cooperation with University of Regensburg, Institute for Romance Studies and Skulpturenmuseum im Hofberg, Landshut.
